Course Description:
This course invites students to see the created beauty in classical and modern works of art, paintings and sculpture, as well as poetry, music, and cinema as a path leading to the Uncreated Beauty that is God. Opening up St. John Paul II’s Letter to Artists, the Theology of the Body catechesis, the thoughts of Pope Benedict XVI and much more, the heart of this course will be an invitation for students to “walk the Way of Beauty” as a path leading to God, and to see Beauty as a key to evangelizing others into an encounter with God. Dostoyevsky once prophesied that in the end, “Beauty will save the world.” Come and become one who sees!
Instructor:
Bill Donaghy is an instructor, international speaker, and curriculum specialist for the Theology of the Body Institute Certification Program. Bill worked for nearly a decade teaching theology at Malvern Preparatory School as well as Immaculata University, while giving talks, retreats, and conferences for the Theology of the Body Institute. He has worked in the fields of mission and evangelization since 1999 and has given talks and retreats to bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated men and women, and the lay faithful throughout the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico, Chile, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. He and his wife, Rebecca, live just outside of Philadelphia, PA with their four children.How Does the Online Course Work?
- Registrants for this online TOB and Art: The Way of Beauty course, will receive access to a filmed version of our in-person 5-day TOB and Art course and a digital course workbook from November 8-19, 2021.
- Each video session is complete with the resources used in the course, as well as directions for helping to make this online course, not only intellectually stimulating, but also spiritually fruitful.
- There will be live group Q&A sessions provided during that two-week period for all students who wish to participate. Christopher West, Bill Donaghy, or Jen Settle will host the live sessions. These group sessions will be recorded for those students who cannot make the designated times and will be accessible through the online course portal.
- Students who wish to attend another course with TOBI or enter into the TOBI Certification Program, must watch all of the videos and complete a multiple choice exam at the end of the course. A passing grade of 80% is required for the exam. Please note that this is the only online course that TOBI offers, so all other courses will be in-person.

*Register and pay before October 22nd, 2021, and students living within the continental US and Canada will receive a hard copy of the TOB 1 workbook. All students will receive a downloadable digital workbook at the time of the course.
